The Quest field guide · 4 practical steps

STEP 01

Know your local risks

Find your local emergency management and weather alert services. Discuss the weather events that affect your area and where you would go for local instructions.

STEP 02

Start with what you have

Gather your flashlights, charging cables, radio, food, and water in one place. Check that equipment works, and write down what is missing.

STEP 03

Talk through the plan

Choose a household meeting place and an out-of-area contact. Include children, pets, accessibility needs, and anyone who may need extra help.

STEP 04

Try one small rehearsal

Have everyone find a flashlight and explain how they would reach your chosen contact. Note what needs to be clearer before the next storm.
